It could not have been more perfect than for Kubica to win his maiden Formula 1 victory at Montreal 08 and to take the lead in the drivers championship! A 1-2 BMW victory at that. This was a pivotal race (one of many this season) with drivers championship points so close. The cars are closely paced this year, no room for error. Make no mistake though, I expect Kimi to regain the drivers lead in Magny Cours in a week.
It was an exciting race, the track surface conditions, excessive clack, and track peeling away made for a hazardous and eventful race. How many 360 spins did Jarno Truilli do? Once Robert got a 24 second lead I was comfortable that he was home free short of something unforeseen. He had concerns about the track and was very respectable of the conditions.
Unfortunate that Massa's refueling rig had a broken joint in the fuel line which resulted in him requiring an additional stop. His double over take of Rubens and Heikki at the hairpin was brilliant though.
I do want to make the comment that I wondered about the particular way Hamilton swerved before hitting Kimi at the red light. Did he pull a Schumacher (he did avoid his friend Kubica who is less of a rival)? Accidents happen but that struck me, especially regarding his comments about the incident.

Kubica, Final Lap Maiden Victory
